Harper Norris
Alfred L. Norris and Mackie L. Harper began their remarkable journey together on the
campus of Dillard University, where they met, graduating in 1960 and marrying in 1961. The
values and lessons they gained during their time at Dillard laid the foundation for their
future accomplishments. Their shared path took them across the United States and to
several countries on four different continents. Each experience reflected the education and
inspiration they received at Dillard.
Both Alfred and Mackie have enjoyed distinguished
careers and have dedicated themselves to making the world a better place for all.
Throughout their adult lives, each has been a trailblazer-being “the first” in various
educational, cultural, professional, and religious recognitions and categories. As the years
pass, Alfred and Mackie’s connection to Dillard’s history, mission, and goals only deepens.
Their lives remain a testament to the lasting impact of our Alma Mater.
