
Alvarez B. Kennedy, born in Heidelberg, Germany and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, entered Dillard University in August 1996 as a Presidential Scholar and Salutatorian of Ensley Magnet High School. He graduated in May 2000 with a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Business Management, establishing a strong foundation for a career defined by service, leadership, and artistic expression.
Following graduation, Kennedy enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served with distinction for 13 years, attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant. His military career included roles as an Aircraft Mechanic and Knowledge Operations Manager, complemented by his contributions as a ceremonial vocalist. Over the course of his service, he performed the National Anthem at more than 500 ceremonies, retirements, and change-of-command events. A notable highlight was his 2007 performance at Giants Stadium, where he represented the Air Force before a national audience.
After completing his military service, Kennedy continued his commitment to public service as a Claims and Programs Representative within the federal government. Concurrently, he has remained active in music, recording two projects and currently completing an EP, with plans to release a series of singles throughout 2026.
Kennedy attributes much of his personal and professional development to his formative years at Dillard University. The mentorship and instruction of distinguished faculty members, including Dr. S. Carver Davenport, Dr. Valerie Francis, and Dr. Edgar Chase, played a significant role in shaping his values and aspirations. In appreciation, he remains dedicated to supporting and uplifting future generations of Dillard students and graduates.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Kennedy values family, service, and lifelong growth. He is a proud father of three adult sons and a grandfather, and he continues to embrace opportunities for travel while sharing his musical talents with diverse audiences. His journey reflects a continued commitment to excellence, service, and the enduring legacy of Dillard University.
